    Minister Černochová discussed defence cooperation in Moldova, unveiled restored memorial

    Minister of Defence Jana Černochová visited Moldova. She met with her counterpart Minister Anatolie Nosatîi in the capital. They discussed deepening of defence industry cooperation and their shared position on the Russian aggression against Ukraine. The program of the visit also included honouring the memory World War I Czechoslovak legionnaires as the Minister unveiled a memorial in Chișinău renewed with a Czech financial donation.

    Brussels hosted a formal meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) composed of EU Ministers of Defence. The Council was preceded by an informal meeting with the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and by a meeting of the European Defence Agency (EDA) Steering Committee. The Czech Republic was represented by the Minister of Defence Jana Černochová.

    The Senate plenary session endorsed the proposal for the deployment of forces and assets of the Ministry of Defence in foreign operations and the stay of other states’ armed forces in the territory of the Czech Republic for this and the following year. A total of 71 Senators voted in favour of the motion, one against it.

    Denmark and the Czech Republic shall supply the Armed Forces of Ukraine with infantry fighting vehicles, battle tanks, heavy weaponry and other materiel from the production and stocks of the Czech defence industry. The supplies shall be financed by the Danish Government.

    The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation shall carry on supporting Ukraine and strengthening its own strategic deterrence potential. It shall also continue its operational engagement in the Western Balkans and the NATO Mission in Iraq and shall flexibly adapt its operation to the ever-changing security environment. All this was agreed by the NATO Defence Ministers during their two-day meeting in Brussels, which unexpectedly also welcomed the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
