    First Deputy Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic František Šulc and Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine Oleksandr Kamyshin signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Czech Ministry of Defence and Ukrainian Ministry of Strategic Industries at the beginning of July. The Memorandum paves the way for a closer cooperation in many specific areas, especially in repairs and maintenance of weapons, development of weapons and ammunition and modernisation and maintenance of armoured vehicles.

    A press conference of the Prime Minister Petr Fiala, Minister of Defence Jana Černochová, and the Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Karel Řehka took place at the Ministry of Defence. The conference reviewed the achievements of the last six months, including the approval of the Act on Defence Funding, acquisition of new materiel, transatlantic cooperation, and help to Ukraine.

    On June 15-16th, Brussels hosted the regular NATO Defence Ministerial meeting, which, for the first time, included the participation of Finland as a full member, as well as Sweden, whose accession process is ongoing. The Ministers mostly focused on the upcoming Summit in Vilnius and held talks with their Ukrainian counterpart Oleksii Reznikov and High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell. The Czech Republic was represented by Defence Minister Jana Černochová.

That is what the multinational ten-day exercise Air Defender 2023 will deliver, as it is designed to demonstrate NATO’s solidarity and is unparalleled in its history. The Czech Armed Forces will not be missing out – all units of the Czech Air Force are joining.

    Hungary will join the Czech Republic and Poland in protecting Slovak airspace. The declaration was signed at the V4 meeting in Štrbské Pleso by the four Defence Ministers. This working meeting included the participation of Germany on this occasion. Minister of Defence Jana Černochová was represented by Deputy Minister Daniel Blažkovec.
