EU Defence Ministers met in Brussels

The meeting of Defence Ministers of the European Union Member States took place in Brussels on Tuesday, November 15, 2022. The agenda addressed the impact of the Russian aggression on Ukraine and other parts of the world and effectiveness of common EU tools for designed for building defence capabilities plus the launching the EU assistance mission for training Ukrainian soldiers. The EU Foreign Affairs Council – Defence was chaired by EU High Representative – Vice President Josep Borrell. The Czech Republic was represented by Minister Jana Černochová. The ministerial meeting’s program also included a session of the European Defence Agency Steering Board, which primarily debated the EDA activities to support and coordinate the development of the Member States’ military capabilities.
Deputy Minister Blažkovec in the NATO Defence Ministerial: Aid to Ukraine must continue

Brussels hosted a two-day meeting of NATO Defence Ministers. Minister Jana Černochová was represented by Deputy Minister Daniel Blažkovec. The main topics of the discussion were the provision of aid to Ukraine and the Allies’ preparedness to provide the security of the citizens of the Alliance against all threats. The Czech Republic, along with 13 other Allies, joined the intention to strengthen air defence systems in Europe.
Resilience against Hybrid Interference through Cooperation and Unity

Hybrid interference is a complex issue that calls for a joint and strong response. That was the key takeaway from the discussions at the conference named Strengthening Resilience and Countering Hybrid Interference. As part of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union, three Ministries – the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of the Interior and Ministry of Foreign Affairs – networked subject matter experts to spur the discussion on the rise of hybrid interference in Europe and appropriate joint course of action to face those activities. Experts from the government, academia and the private sector from both EU and non-EU countries met in the National Museum and the Wallenstein Palace in Prague on October 10-11th, 2022.
Leopard 2 „Ringtausch“ Agreement Signed

On Tuesday, 11th of October, the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic signed a collection of agreements for the delivery of 14 pieces of Leopard 2A4 main battle tanks and 1 piece of advanced recovery vehicle Büffel with German partners.
Defence, Foreign and Interior Ministries to Entertain the Topic of Hybrid Interference

On October 10-11, 2022, the Czech Defence, Interior and Foreign Ministries will jointly organise the Strengthening Resilience and Countering Hybrid Interference conference in Prague as part of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The goal of the conference is to deepen the discussion about the rise of the hybrid interference in Europe and on instruments to jointly face it.
