Defence Ministers of France, Estonia and Czech Republic in Mali

From Wednesday 31 March through Friday 2 April 2021, Minister of Defence Lubomír Metnar visited Mali where Czech Armed Forces service personnel operate as part of EUTM Mali and, since the beginning of the year, also in Task Force Takuba in the French led Operation Barkhane.

Chaired by the Polish Minister of National Defence Mariusz Błaszczak, a videoconference of the Visegrad Four Defence Ministers took place on Monday under the auspices of the Polish Presidency running from July earlier this year. Deputy Minister for Defence Policy and Strategy Jan Havránek represented the Czech Republic in the session.
Minister Metnar: The memory of war veterans will never be forgotten

The Veterans Day remembrance ceremony at the Prague’s Vítkov Hill took place in a rather intimate atmosphere this year, without the ceremonial line-up of soldiers. The coronavirus epidemic claims special measures, and so Defence Minister Lubomír Metnar and Chief of General Staff General Aleš Opata solemnly laid a wreath in solitude.
Unmanned systems unit based in Prostějov received colours and honorary name from the President

In the company of Defence Minister Lubomír Metnar and the Chief of General Staff General Aleš Opata, the President of the Czech Republic attended the ceremony hosted by the 53rd Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare Regiment in Prostějov. On this occasion, the President conferred the honorary name of Major General Josef Duda on the 533rd Unmanned Systems Battalion.
