    Seventeen World War II veterans received honorary commemorative badges on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II from the Minister of Defence Lubomír Metnar. Due to the coronavirus crisis, the award ceremony only took place today.

    The Yak-40 aircraft were ceremonially decommissioned at the 24th Transport Air Force Base in Prague – Kbely. Senior defence officials and other distinguished guests witnessed their last flypast.

    Prime Minister Andrej Babiš visited the Ministry of Defence today to support the Armed Forces and express his gratitude to the military for aiding to fight the coronavirus at the same time. The press conference after the meeting voiced another key message: Modernisation must go on. The contract for the new tracked infantry fighting vehicles should be executed by the end of this year.

    On 16 April 2020, the EU Political and Security Committee confirmed Brigadier General František Ridzák as the Force Commander of the EU Training Mission in Mali. He will take over the command on behalf of the Czech Republic on 12 June 2020 for the period of six months.
