Czech Republic hands command over to Spain in Slovakia

The Training Centre in Lešť hosted a significant event on Monday, 1 July 2024. The Czech Armed Forces handed over the command of the Multinational Battlegroup Slovakia (MN BG SVK) to the Spanish Armed Forces. The handover represents a significant milestone as this is Spain’s first command of a foreign operation in Eastern Europe. The structure of the battlegroup shall be expanded to brigade level (MN BDE TF SVK) with over two thousand Spanish servicemembers at its core.

Minister Černochová in NATO Defence Ministerial Meeting in Brussels

The meeting of the NATO Defence Ministers primarily discussed the support of Ukraine and strengthening NATO defence and deterrence. On the side-lines of the meeting, Minister Černochová signed a memorandum of understanding with Luxembourg and Slovenia to secure additional financing for the Czech ammunition initiative for Ukraine.

Hundreds of NATO CBRN specialists train in the Czech Republic

On June 9, 2024, an opening ceremony launched the multinational CBRN defence exercise Coronat Mask 2024 in the Hradiště Military Training Area, Czech Republic. Designed to train 800 plus CBRN defence specialists from thirteen NATO nations, this field training exercise is unparalleled in scope in the modern Czech history.

Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic Jana Černochová welcomed the Secretary of State of the United Stated of America Antony Blinken at the Prague-Kbely Air Force Base. Secretary Blinken thanked the Czech Republic for providing aid to Ukraine to repel the Russian attack. Secretary Blinken was also shown examples of armaments and equipment delivered to the country to fight Russian aggression.
