    From fighters in the sky to radars on the ground. Almost a complete order of battle of air assets and ground equipment of the Czech Air Force was involved in exercise Ramstein Guard last week. In the context of the changing security environment, traditional training gains on importance again, this time with focus on combat with the opponent employing various system to disrupt communication and seeking to gain superiority in the electromagnetic spectrum. The new Israeli manufactured Mobile Air Defence Radar (MADR) was involved in the exercise for the first time.

    From May 9-27, 2024, the Czech Air Force 21st Tactical Air Force Base Čáslav hosts multinational exercise Lion Effort 2024 (LE24), which trains approximately 500 service personnel, of whom about 150 are international participants.

    The initial training of the future Czech F-35 pilots will take place at the Ebbing Air National Guard Base, Arkansas. The objective is to train a sufficient number of instructors and pilots who will be in charge of forming the squadrons and will kick-start the training system, as was mentioned during the visit of General James B. Hecker, the Commander of the Allied Air Command, in the Czech Republic.

    Commander of the Allied Air Command (AIRCOM) General James B. Hecker visited the Czech Republic on April 29-30th. The Czech Air Force Commander Major General Petr Čepelka accompanied him during his visit of the 21st Tactical Air Force Base Čáslav on Monday. On Tuesday, General Hecker had a meeting with the Chief of the General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces Lieutenant General Karel Řehka to discuss modernisation projects, particularly the acquisition of the 5th generation fighter F-35, the Czech Armed Forces’ engagement in the collective defence, and the strengthening of air defence posture.

    The Ministry of Defence was the venue to a meeting between the Czech Minister Jana Černochová and Kajsa Ollongren, Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The meeting focused on defence cooperation and aid to Ukraine. A Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries was signed on this occasion.
