    Defence Minister Jana Černochová visited Israel and met with her counterpart, Minister Yoav Galant, to discuss the security situation in the Middle East and in Europe, and defence industrial cooperation, including acquisition projects. Just as the President, Prime Minister and other representatives of the Government, the Minister was another senior Czech governmental official to express solidarity and an unequivocal support to Israel in its fight against the Hamas terrorist organisation.

    Specialised mobile teams comprising Czech combat engineers, CBRN defence specialists, paramedics and snipers trained around one thousand Ukrainian service members in Poland in 2023. Their assignment to the EUMAM will continue throughout this year, and will even expand. According to the commanding officer of the first rotation Captain Pavel Kinc, common training benefits the Czech Armed Forces service personnel too: “Thanks to current lessons from the battlefield, we are able to update our own operating procedures, create sustainable solutions, work to prevent future conflicts and strengthen cooperation with other partners.”

    Defence Minister Jana Černochová with the U.S. Ambassador Bijan Sabet signed today a Memorandum of Understanding between the Czech Republic and the United States of America on procurement of twenty four fifth-generation F-35 fighters, which is the most important project in the history of the Czech Armed Forces. The ceremony brought to a head the negotiations on the future of the Czech supersonic capability and marked the conclusion of this contract.

    Not only Ukraine and the Middle East – the situation in the Western Balkans largely affects the security in Europe too. “The Western Balkans tend to be omitted. The mission of Central European countries is to alert to that, including on the EU level,” said Defence Minister Jana Černochová at the conclusion of the CEDC plus Western Balkans meeting. The representatives of thirteen countries met in Prague yesterday and today to discuss the security situation in the region as well as practical military and expert cooperation. In Prague, Visegrad Four Defence Ministers agreed on a joint communique to reaffirm the importance of the V4 defence cooperation.
