Multinational MRTT Unit achieves Full Operational Capability (FOC)

The Multinational MRTT Unit (MMU) has officially achieved Full Operational Capability (FOC). This milestone concludes a journey that began with Initial Operational Capability (IOC) in 2023. What started as an ambitious multinational initiative has matured into a fully operational and trusted capability. The event also featured a change of command: Colonel Evert Cuppens (BEL) took over the MMU as the new Commander from Colonel Ludger Bette (DEU), who was given a well-deserved send-off into retirement.
Minister Zůna’s address in the “Our Security Cannot be Taken for Granted” Conference

The Prague Castle was the venue to the 13th edition of the conference titled “Our Security cannot be taken for Granted”. Since 2014, the conference has been a regular meeting point for political leaders and prominent security experts to review the development and outline plans for the next course of action in providing the Czech Republic’s national defence and security posture. The keynote speakers included Czech Defence Minister Jaromír Zůna.

With attendance of over 60 Heads of State and Governments from around the globe, dozens of Presidents and Prime Ministers, the 62nd Munich Security Conference was held last week. Defence Minister Jaromír Zůna attended several panel discussions and had a range of bilateral meetings.

Defence Minister Jaromír Zůna went for his first visit in Brussels after assuming office to attend the NATO Defence Ministerial meeting, the European Foreign Affairs Council – Defence and the Ukraine Defence Contact Group (UDCG). He also had several bilateral meetings with his colleague Defence Ministers from other countries.

The first foreign travel of Defence Minister Jaromír Zůna led to Bratislava, where he met his Slovak counterpart, Minister Robert Kaliňák. For the Czech Republic, Slovakia represents its historically closest partner, and the excellent relations also reflect in the intensive cooperation of both nations’ armed forces.
